An insulated glass unit (IGU) combines multiple glass panes into a single unit system, for example a window. Unlike double glazing, where two panes are built into a single unit, secondary glazing involves a separate pane that can be removed, creating a flexible and effective solution for enhancing window performance. This is especially beneficial in period properties where retaining the original window structure is preferred. Secondary glazing offers key features like energy efficiency and noise reduction, providing a cost-effective upgrade to traditional single glazing. Just glaze a piece as you normally would and put it into your usual bisque firing (check each glaze with test tiles first though).
