Vacuum glazing is very similar to a double glazed unit in construction, except that it doesn’t have a gas in the cavity, it has a vacuum. The vacuum makes a far more effective insulated window than any gas could, and therefore only requires a small cavity. There is no need to have a big, thick unit to deliver exceptional performance – the double glazing thickness is greatly reduced. Conventional double glazing consists of two panes of glass separated by an insulating cavity.
This is most often used as a fire resistant glass because the wire holds the glass in place if high temperature causes it to break. The wire mesh is better at holding glass in place than the PVB films used in laminated glass. The term 'low-e glass' is used to describe glass that has a coating added to one or more of its surfaces to reduce its emissivity so that it reflects, rather than absorbs, long-wave infra-red radiation. Everest's policy is one of continued development and in accordance with this, we reserve the right to amend specification of our products as their development dictates.
Velcro is an installation method that does not require drilling into the frame which makes mounting and sash window repair dismantling very easy. If you are looking for permanent secondary glazing, or want to install it on the outside? In the table below you can see which mounting method suits your frame best. Using secondary glazing brings about many benefits, including acoustic insulation and thermal insulation as well as notable reductions in pollution and condensation. Our unique design mirrors the structure of your existing primary windows so that the secondary glazing is hardly visible once installed.
Photovoltaic glassA special glass with integrated solar cells, used to convert solar energy into electricity. Laminated glassLaminated glass is a combination of two or more glass sheets with one or more interlayers of plastic (PVB) or resin. In case of breakage, the interlayer holds the fragments together and continues to provide resistance to the passage of persons or objects. Glazing beadA strip of wood, metal or other suitable material attached to the glazing surround to fix the position of glass. The term "float" glass derives from the production method, introduced in the UK by Sir Alastair Pilkington in the late 1950’s, by which 90% of today’s flat glass is manufactured.
