What is a mole?

A common mole, or melanocytic naevi, is a coloured spot on the skin that when pigment cells called grow in clusters. Although common moles may be present at birth, they usually appear later in childhood and during years – most adults have 10 and 40 on their body. During pregnancy, moles often get darker and they can fade away from around the age of 50.

Methods of mole removal

How to best look after your moles

Sun is the main cause of skin cancers, so protecting your skin from the sun is crucial for skin health. advise to avoid direct sun exposure between 11am and 3pm on sunny days, and to wear protective clothing in addition to using sunscreen .
